Life Church, what an amazing month! We celebrated 3 years of existence last Sunday, dedicating our new building with Mayor Mike Walsh of De Pere and other dignitaries on hand. God amazes me. He stuns me. Overwhelms me. And some of the things He asks me to do sometimes terrifies me. Nevertheless, it’s not about me. It’s about trusting what Jesus wants to do through me. Did you know that over 25 million kids will go to bed tonight without their dad in the house? How about that 85 percent of all prison inmates report the absence of a father figure in their lives?
Men, we aren’t complicated. Every man struggles to balance work, family, and relationships with others. We need to work to change these staggering statistics. At Life Church, we’re announcing Iron Men. It’s not a group. It’s not a club. It’s not a breakfast, an event, or a catchy slogan. It’s an idea. A vision. A blueprint to change the status quo.
MOVE. That seems to be the word of the season for Hope and I. We moved from Minneapolis to start Life Church back in January of 2009 (see photos below). We rented De Pere HS on weekends, and then MOVED into renting the Hwy 41 facility (formerly the SC Grand). Now, in a few short weeks, on November 6, Life Church will MOVE into our newly-built facility at 1880 Southbridge in De Pere!
I remember telling Hope plainly back in 2009: We would not purchase our own house until God got His house. Construction on Life Church began in June. Two months later, we located, bought, and MOVED into a new home in September. After 2 years of renting, this was a HUGE celebration.
We’re also in a new series at LIFE CHURCH called “Move” which touches on three key areas of growth: Our personal relationship and development with Him. With His church. With His community.
